Let's crank up the volume for this one sports fans. We've got the Texas Rangers taking on the Chicago Cubs in beautiful Wrigley Field, a ballpark that can be as kind to a hitter as a mother to her only child but can give pitchers a headache worse than a two-day hangover.
Taking the mound for the Rangers is Patrick "Spins-A-Lot" Corbin. His performance last season was as appealing as a cold cup of coffee with an ERA of 5.723, but hey, it's a new season. He hasn't let a single hit against him so far, not that he's had any opportunity to with zero appearances as of yet.
The Cubs are sending down Jameson Taillon, a fella who’s probably wishing that this season’s start was just a bad dream. Currently 7.13 of earned runs are getting across the dinner plate per nine innings. But let's not lose all hope here, he's shown he can pitch with an ERA of 3.327 last season.
Swinging the lumber for the Rangers, we've got Kevin Pillar, Josh Smith, and Wyatt Langford. Pillar must be seeing beach balls instead of baseballs at the plate, batting a .400, whereas Smith is not far behind there with a .304. On the darker side, Langford is performing more like your average weekend golfer with 0.216.
The Cubs' lineup is no joke, either. Kyle Tucker has made it around the base path more times than I can count with 16 RBIs and 5 home runs. Carson Kelly is on fire, batting a .389, and Nico "The Quick" Hoerner is swiping bags left and right, with 6 stolen bases.
Now, if I consider their track record, the Cubs seem to have an edge like a well-sharpened blade. Just need to look at the last five face-offs, with the Cubs winning three, including their last duel, in which they crushed the Rangers with a score reminiscent to that of an American football game.
Both teams are off to a decent start to the season - they must’ve had an extra helping of corn flakes at breakfast. The Rangers come here with a splendid 8-2 record, while the Cubs trail slightly behind with 7-5.
Coming down to brass tacks now - let's consider recent results. The Rangers have been enjoying a good run lately, with the only recent hiccup being a not-so-pleasant visit at Wrigley. The Cubs are also doing quite well and appear to be in a rhythm, tuning their victory bells quite often.
Well, it's time for my prediction. My greying hair might not serve me well here but I'm gonna go with...
