Pittsburgh Pirates by 3Alrighty then, let's unwrap this Major League matchup like an old candy bar you find in the couch - might be surprisingly good, might be awful, but you're gonna eat it anyway.
The St. Louis Cardinals are flying into the easily mistaken for a bird sanctuary that is PNC Park in Pittsburgh for a little tussle against the Pirates. Oh, and let's not forget, dear bettors, that PNC Park tends to be a bit of a treat for batters. You didn’t hear it from me though.
Sonny Gray of the Cardinals is set to strut his stuff on the mound, but his performances so far don’t exactly paint a Picasso in our minds. Last season? That’s another story, he was tighter than grandma's holiday fruitcake. Pirates have Paul Skenes up their sleeves as the starting pitcher. Word on the street is he's been playing like a man possessed this season. Well, who knows, maybe he sold his soul to ol' Beelzebub- these stats don’t lie.
Let's talk heavy hitters. St. Louis Cardinals have got a couple of cannonballs in Ivan Herrera and Brendan Donovan, swinging with some high averages. On the other side, we have the Pittsburgh Pirates' trio of fine fellows, McCutchen, Kiner-Falefa, and Cruz. Cruz, although his batting average is chilling on the bottom shelf, he's got those fast legs, raking in some hefty stolen bases.
Past history between the two squads seems to sway a bit like my grandma's chandelier in a wind storm - bit of back and forth action. The recent roll of the dice hasn’t been too kind for the Cardinals, while Pirates are riding with some momentum after their latest victory against the Cardinals.
So chuck on your eyepatch and parrot, because I'm talking to you Pirates fans. Your ship is set to sail home with the booty this time. Time for the downbeat...
