Ah, the sweet smell of baseball. We've got a glittering contest here between the Houston Astros and the Mariners of The Emerald City, Seattle. The T-Mobile Park, a pitcher's paradise, will be the theater for tonight's duel.
Houston's got Framber Valdez on the mound. Did pretty okay this season but nothing spectacular. His ERA yoyo seems to be at a high altitude at the moment, though, but we cannot forget his last season's performance, overall steady. We'll have to watch out for that WHIP; was shaking up batters like a snow globe in the playoffs.
Seattle's banking on Luis Castillo. Doesn't really inspire confidence with his numbers this season, but who knows, maybe he's just getting warmed up.
As for the boys swinging the bat, Houston's got a miniature army led by a revitalized Altuve. His batting average this season is solid gold. Brendan Rodgers and Yordan Alvarez aren't really hitting the ball out of the park, but they're making their presence felt nonetheless.
The Mariners, on the other hand, have Jorge Polanco holding things together like a boss. That man is on fire. Then, there's Dylan Moore with his consistent batting average and Rodriguez, who's regularly making a trip to batter's paradise.
Taking a peek into the rearview mirror, the past clashes between these teams have been a roller coaster ride full of scores being flipped back and forth. It's like the universe can't really decide who's on the top.
Looking at their regular season records, though, both teams have been somewhat mediocre so far. Houston with 4 wins to 5 losses and the Mariners not doing much better at 3-7. Houston's got to pull up their socks. Their recent results are also in a state of tumult, kind of like someone's first attempt at making a souffle.
The Mariners haven't been setting the stage on fire either, but we did see them edge Houston by a run recently.
Looking at the numbers, the gut, and slightly burnt coffee, it's going to be a sweaty-palm kind of game folks, but going for a surprise outcome this time.
Albert’s Prediction: Seattle Mariners by 2
