Keys in 3 setsOh, the smell of freshly cut grass, the sporadic applause, the never-ending debate on the pronunciation of "Wimbledon". It must be tennis season and we've got a round of 128 encounter between Madison Keys and Elena-Gabriela Ruse on the menu.
Keys, our sixth seed, and betting sweetheart, has a rock solid past record against our unseeded Ruse, leading 2-1 in their head-to-head tussles. That said, the last few weeks haven't been Keys' best friends, with her winning only 2 of the last 5, surrendering the advantage twice to love. Maybe her winning serve decided to take a vacation or her backhand decided to play hide and seek. Either way, Keys needs to find them and fast.
On the other side of the court, Ruse is the unseeded underdog, sniffing an opportunity to get some English love under the Wimbledon sun. Her recent form is quite impressive, with 4 wins out of the last 5, conceding only a singular match to love. Whatever you might think, Ruse knows her way around a racket and certainly won't be rolling over without a fight.
In view of their past clashes and recent performances, my money would still be on the sixth seed. However, considering Ruse's upward trajectory, I'd expect her to steal a set from the higher-ranked Keys.
