My Prediction
Montréal Canadiens by 2Alright let's get on with this, shall we? On one corner we've got the Philadelphia Flyers who're swinging in with the golden gloves of goalkeepers, the twosome of Samuel Ersson and Ivan Fedotov. Ersson has been working that net with a solid 936 saves this season and an 88.1 save percentage. And Fedotov's right there with him with a similar 88.0 save percentage. Good guys, no doubt.
On the other corner, the Montréal Canadiens are defending with the likes of Sam Montembeault and Jakub Dobes. Montembeault's a wall on the ice with last month's save percentage at a cool 90.0%. Dobes keeps up with 86.2%. Not too shabby.
The Flyers are spreading their wings with top players Matvei Michkov, Travis Konecny, and Sean Couturier leading the pack. Michkov, despite his -13 plus-minus ratio, still managed to hit the puck home 24 times this season. Konecny with his slightly off -11 plus-minus ratio still scored a whopping 49 assists. Our boy Couturier's showing off with a positive plus-minus and an admirable 14 goals.
Meanwhile, the Canadiens have some star power of their own. Nick Suzuki's out there doing big things with 54 assists this season. Lane Hutson's been a key playmaker, chalking up no less than 54 assists as well. And Christian Dvorak's dipped a bit this month, but he's been solid throughout the season.
Now, folks, if we take a gander at the past match-ups, Canadiens took some heavy losses against our Flyer folks. But, and this is a big but, the Canadiens have had a better run in the regular season with a 36-9-30 record. The Flyers trail behind with their 31-9-36.
And if we're talking recent wins and losses, the Canadiens are brushing off a rough start - they took home two consecutive wins. The Flyers, on the other hand, have been a bit of a mixed bag, though they managed to best Canadiens in their last face off.
All in all, counting past performances and season stats, plus a quick peek at our crystal ball...
