Oh boy, ladies and gentlemen, what a game we have shaping up. The Vancouver Canucks are traipsing into the heart of Texas to take on the Dallas Stars. A Canadian invasion in the Lone Star State? Only in hockey.
Glancing over the men with mitts for each team, we have Kevin Lankinen and Thatcher Demko sticking it in-between the pipes for the Canucks. Lankinen, though, given his form in the last month, could probably save a truck from a runaway train. For Dallas, we have Jake Oettinger and Casey DeSmith in goal. I mean, I've seen less rubber at a tire shop than these guys, but they've been quite something this season, Casey DeSmith specifically has been practically a brick wall in the recent games.
Let's look at the players now. For the Canucks, we've got fire pluggers like Elias Pettersson but, man, where's the consistency?! My spotlight is on Brock Boeser - the boy is showing prowess, even though he's dipped a bit in the recent games. They better trend up soon or it's going to be a long flight home.
On the other side, the Stars - they're loaded with talent. Watch out for the 'Duchene Train' - Matt Duchene and his gameplay have been more mesmerizing than my grandma's apple pie. Jason Robertson and Mikko Rantanen? They're just showing off now. The Stars are sitting pretty with some top-notch skaters right now.
When Canucks met Stars in the past, let's say... Dallas ran the show. They tipped their hat twice consecutively on Canucks' ice and walked away with a swag, now that's something. The season's record reflects the uprising of Stars - a telling figure of 50 wins while poor Canucks are standing with 35 in their kitty.
Peeping into recent results, the Canucks have been more inconsistent than my Wi-Fi during a thunderstorm. As for Dallas, a couple of stumbles here and there, but overall, decent. Good form, solid strategy, could use a few less overtime losses.
So, after circling the hockey rink, what's the prediction? Let it be known, my new pants are on the line here, folks.
