My Prediction
Ottawa Senators by 3Alright then, let's get down to brass tacks with this upcoming NHL faceoff between the Ottawa Senators and the Columbus Blue Jackets. Grab your notepad--or, wait, maybe your phone, do people even use notepads these days? Anyway, try to keep up.
Rolling out for the Senators will be their goal-stoppers Linus Ullmark, the Swede with an impressive 94.1% save rate for the season, and Anton Forsberg, clocking in with a still respectable 90.8%. On the other side of the ice we've got Columbus' own Elvis Merzlikins, who, unlike his namesake, has been a little less 'King' and more 'court jester' with his 89.2% season save rate. Daniil Tarasov has been performing similarly, teetering on the edge with an 88.1% save for this season.
Just because I like the sound of my own voice, let's talk about some players that are dressed to impress. On the Senators' squad, we have Jake Sanderson and Drake Batherson who have been making some noise on the ice. Sanderson has an impressive 43 assists this season and Batherson isn't far behind with 38. On the Blue Jackets' side, we have Kirill Marchenko who's managed a whopping 31 goals this season, and Zach Werenski is a real team player with 53 assists. However, we need to remember success is not built on just one or two players, a lesson we learn from watching an 'Avengers' movie, of all places.
As far as past clashes go, the Senators have been giving the Blue Jackets a hard time with four wins out of their last five encounters. Looking at the regular season records, the Senators have pulled ahead with a 42-6-29 record as compared to the Blue Jackets' more modest 34-9-33. Seems like the Blue Jackets are in a blue funk.
Present times don’t abound with joy for the Blue Jackets either, as their recent results haven't been anything to write home about. They are coming off a loss against our good friend Senators, along with three other losses in their last five games. The Senators, on the other hand, are feeling pretty smug with three wins in their last five games.
So gear up folks, if I were a betting man- wait, I am a betting man, seen my wedding ring? Anyway, as I was saying, gear up, because here's my scientifically calculated, not at all arbitrarily decided prediction.
