Colorado Avalanche by 2You know, they say your money talks. Well if that's true, I guess it's time for us to listen to the rustling of the cash on the Colorado Avalanche. Now, keep in mind, that's just a metaphor folks. It's not like we're clairvoyant or something. But okay, let's break it down...
Looking at the goalkeeper battle today, Vegas's impressive duo - Adin Hill and Ilya Samsonov are going head to head against Colorado's Mackenzie Blackwood and Scott Wedgewood. Whoa, don't get me started on the Wedgewood-Blackwood debates, alright? It's like arguing over whether pie is better than cake (Spoiler: it is). I gotta tell you though, Hill's been looking cool as a cucumber taking more than his fair share of shots recently and coming up with a whopping 93.0% save percentage this season. But neglecting Blackwood's numbers would be a mistake, the guy's blocked 92.1% of incoming shots this season, and honestly, who's counting?
Here's the thing though, hockey's not just about the goalkeepers. The ones making the big bucs are the forwards. And taking a look at Vegas's blokes - Mark Stone and Jack Eichel are ones of kind in their own right, especially Eichel here with 27 season goals and is he going for the 70's with his assist count? Over in the Avalanche's end, Cale Makar's been impressive with an astounding 60 assists and 31 plus minus this season. Then there's Nathan MacKinnon, oh boy, this bloke is practically a walking, skating goal-machine with 32 cookies in the jar this season.
Last but not least, let's take a little history tour to the good ol' battles between Vegas and Colorado. And when I say recent, I mean as far as your last bad hairstyle choice. The matchups have been fairly even. If you're a fan of ancient history, you could bring up the Knights's whitewash win from 2023. But then again, who remembers that at this point, right? What's fresher is a Colorado win from last November.
So here we are folks. It's a match that'll fry a few circuits before we can produce a shooting star of a prediction. It's like trying to beat your grandmother at bingo, you just never know how it'll go. But, who am I to shy away from getting my hands dirty?
