Welcome to the clash of titans, Philadelphia Flyers against the New York Rangers, and boy do we have a spectacle on our hands.
We don't need a crystal ball to tell us that goalkeeping is going to be key in this showdown. Igor Shesterkin for the Rangers is packing some impressive stats this season with 1455 saves to his name and an impeccable 90.3 save percentage. On the other side, we see Samuel Ersson for the Flyers flashing his 959 saves and an 88.1 save percentage. It's going to be like watching two brick walls stare each other down.
The Flyers' army is led by the likes of Matvei Michkov, Travis Konecny, and Ryan Poehling. Michkov and Konecny haven't had exactly a party last month, with -5 plus-minus each, however Poehling flaunts a positive plus-minus, a rare sight for the Flyers. Let's not forget Konecny's impressive 50 assists this season, man has been a real backbone for the team.
The Rangers, on the other hand, have their own array of stars. Artemi Panarin, J.T. Miller, and Vincent Trocheck have all been vital cogs in the wheel. Especially Panarin, whose last month's score is pretty impressive with 8 goals and a positive plus-minus, which is as mythical as a unicorn in Rangers territory.
When it comes to past matchups, it's been a game of ping-pong, the puck's been on either side of the net pretty much equally. The last match had the Rangers singing all the way to the bank with a massive 6-1 victory, however, the game before that saw the Flyers take home a sweet 3-1 win.
Looking at the Regular Season Records, Rangers slightly edge out the Flyers, 36-7-34 to 31-9-37. The slight favor towards the Rangers continues when we look at recent results, albeit the numbers paint a jagged picture.
Based on all these pieces of the puzzle, my deduction is warehouse worthy but take it with a grain of salt, or pepper if that's your preference.
