Milwaukee Brewers by 2I'll tell ya, look at the Brewers, just a half-game ahead of the Cardinals heading into this matchup. And yet, they're the favorites, aren't they? Interesting. We're back at the American Family Field, a mixed blessing given it tends to deliver an even stand for pitchers and batters alike.
Moving on to our star pitchers, St. Louis is giving the ball on the mound to Miles Mikolas, who has a skittle above average ERA and a WHIP that won't win any beauty contests this season. Not to rub it in, but he's only coming up with a hair over 5 strikeouts per 9 innings. On the other side for the Brewers, they counter with Quinn Priester. Now, this fella! Sporting a better ERA than Mikolas and also is outpacing him in K/9.
Let's talk about some of the boys with bats, shall we? The Cardinals line-up boasts quite a few lads doing well. You've got Burleson, Walker and the old-timer Nolan Arenado. However, a quick peek over to the Brewers camp and you get guys like Sal Frelick, Christian Yelich and Jackson Chourio working their magic.
Now, history has told me to never forget past brushes. The Cardinals and Brewers have had a healthy amount of run-ins this season and it's been relatively split down the middle. And if we talk recent performances, both teams have had their fair share of the roller coaster ride.
So, considering all factors, this certainly isn't a straightforward call. But at the end of the day, somebody's gotta make the decision, right? And that falls on yours truly. So let's dive in.
