I guess we'll have to tear our eyes away from the hot dog vendors and souvenirs for a second to talk baseball. Looking at our starting pitchers, Luis Ortiz and his 4.43 ERA for Cleveland is taking the mound against Seattle's Emerson Hancock who's been struggling with a 5.2 ERA. Ortiz has been getting a decent handle on those strikeouts, whereas Hancock... well, he's trying.
Speaking of trying, let’s move on to our top players. Ramirez and Santana have been the stars of Cleveland's lineup, swatting the ball like it called them ugly and stealing bases like kleptomaniacs on coffee. Martinez, however, seems to be on a tight leash with that .179 batting average.
Seattle's got a little bit of everything with Crawford and Rodriguez giving us solid batting averages and Raleigh trying to impress us with his home run prowess. Rowdy Tellez, on the other hand, might want to work on his batting, or perhaps his name is a harbinger of what's to come.
Looking at the history between these teams, it’s a little bit like a dance off – back and forth, back and forth. But recently, the Mariners were doing the moonwalk as victors in their two most recent encounters.
The regular season records have both these teams neck and neck. It's like watching a pair of geriatric snails race down the garden path. Recent results unfortunately haven't done much to shake that image either.
Taking all of this into consideration, drum roll please, I give you my prediction.
