Ah, here’s a tug-of-war game where our beloved San Diego Padres are packing up their bats and balls and heading to Pittsburgh. Pirate territory. I hope they remembered their parrot, and sharper words for this little party they're throwing at the PNC Park.
A little bird told me this park leans into the batting team's favor, so we might be in for some slugfest fun, especially with San Diego's line-up. Luis Arraez has been hot at bat and should be taking advantage of the field. Then you've got the flamboyant Fernando Tatis Jr. and the ever reliable Manny Machado batting salute. These Padres seem eager to run wild, and I wouldn't be surprised if they do.
Don't go thinking it's a one-sided party though. The Pirates have their own tricks. Mitch Keller will be on the mound and although his numbers aren't as heavy as Dylan Cease's, they've held steady so far this season. You gotta love an underdog, right?
But wait, look who’s stepping up to bat for the Pirates – the trio of Bart, McCutchen and Cruz. Nice to meet you, players, but do try to keep up the pace. Pirates are trailing behind in the past face-offs with Padres and they’ve got one messy record this season compared to the pretty picture Padres are presenting.
Looking into the old magic ball which are the recent results, Padres are doing alright. A few bumps here and there but they handled the Giants pretty alright. The Pirates’ last results? Not as rosy. They got roughed up a bit by Cubs and Dodgers. No one likes a sore loser.
Throwing all this into the blender, I would have to say, the Padres have the edge. Pirates could turn the tide in their favor, but I'm doubtful. Maybe next time.
Albert’s Prediction: San Diego Padres by 3.
