Washington Nationals by 2
The Colorado Rockies and Washington Nationals are butting heads, and we're in for an interesting throwdown. We're talking about two teams that have seen better days in terms of winning stats, Rockies at a dreadful 16-57 and the Nationals not too far high up the ladder at 30-43.
Bus is pulling up at the Nationals Park which, without giving away any trade secrets, should give the batters a fair shot. So let's talk cannon-fodder, i.e., pitchers. The Rockies are putting German Marquez on the mound, donning a whopping ERA of 6.76 and WHIP of 1.70 this season. And the home team Nationals are wheeling out Mitchell Parker. Now, Mitchell's ERA of 5.08 and WHIP of 1.38 do look silkier than Marquez's, albeit not by a country mile.
Gimmicks, some call them, others refer to them as top players. The Rockies have brought Tyler Freeman, 0.348 batting average, along with their very own Thairo Estrada and leading RBI man Hunter Goodman. Looking over at the Nationals' dugout, we have Luis Garcia, 0.307 batting average, beside the powerhouse RBI machine James Wood and their home run aficionado, Josh Bell.
Speaking from the annals of history, the last few games between these two have frequently leaned the way of the Rockies. But then again, sports aren't run by a sworn in pal of Harry Potter's, so history might not be a reliable soothsayer here.
So, where does this leave us? I reckon the series of events might unfold a little something like this. The Rockies have been riding a momentum tsunami, taking the last couple of games off the Nationals. However, the Nationals are playing at home territory and they've got some heavy artillery with blokes like Garcia and Wood.
So, without further ado, the founding fathers have spoken.
Albert’s Prediction: Washington Nationals by 2.
