Texas Rangers by 1Sliding into today's match, we've got the St. Louis Cardinals flying into the Texas Rangers' realm at Globe Life Field. Now if there's one thing that's for certain, it’s that Globe Life Field is not the most generous towards batters. This might be troubling news for St. Louis who got some decent batters like Brendan Donovan and Ivan Herrera. But don’t make the mistake of scratching the Cardinals just yet. They've had an admirable season so far, sitting comfortably at 33-25.
On the other side of the field, we have the Texas Rangers favored and, let me introduce you to their prizefighter - Jacob deGrom, an amazing force this season with an ERA of 2.45 and a WHIP of 0.98. Well, folks would be enthralled to see the kind of brawl he's going to put up against the Cardinals' starting pitcher, Erick Fedde, who’s been having both highs and lows this season.
Looking at the kings of the diamond, Josh Jung swung some pretty impressive numbers for the Rangers and Adolis Garcia hasn’t been too bad either. Unfortunately, the Rangers' overall performance this season seems to be lagging with their 28-31 win-loss record.
Peeking into the history between these teams, seems like you never really know who'll fall flat. Although Texas made mincemeat out of St. Louis in a previous blowout at 11-1, St. Louis paid them back the very next day with a shutout victory. Clearly, they both can deliver surprises.
No spin on it, this match could go either way. But considering it all, with the Texas Rangers having home advantage, deGrom on the mound, and a certain love for the dramatic, its a close call favoring the home team.
