New York Mets by 4If you’re looking for a nail-biter, I'd suggest you switch over to golf my friends. This one's gonna be as exciting as watching paint dry. Colorado Rockies are visiting the New York Mets over at Citi Field. Don't let the name fool you, it ain't no lush green paradise. In fact, it shines bright for the soul-crushing pitcher's heaven it is.
On the mound for the Rockies, we'll see Carson Palmquist, who's been about as effective as a wind turbine in a storm, trying to hold back these Mets. With an ERA on the wrong side of atrocious, I wouldn't bet on him. On the other side, we have Clay Holmes, who's ERA isn't exactly Earth-shattering, but it's not in the same solar system as Palmquist's—that much is clear.
As for roster talent, the Rockies possess a feeble glimmer of hope in the form of Tovar, McMahon, and Goodman, trying their best with not much to show for it. Conversely, the Mets are flaunting a lineup that seems more like an all-star ensemble—notably: Marte, with a 0.300 batting average, Lindor, and Baty performing like champs.
Looking at past encounters, it's been more one-sided than a debate with a parrot, with the Mets consistently coming out on top. The Rockies' regular season record reads more like a tragedy than a sports statistic, boasting an almost impossible 9-49 standing. The Mets, appear bright as a summer's day in comparison, with an impressive 36-22. Recent results have been less kind to the Rockies, who've been playing catch-up in their recent games, while the Mets have been enjoying a relatively successful streak in theirs.
So, if you're feeling lucky and want that little flutter, simulating a feeling of excitement for a game that's gonna be dryer than a camel's toenails, here are my predictions:
