Look at the lineups, folks. Oakland Coliseum, where balls go to die and ERAs go to live long and prosper, is hosting our little get-together tonight. Our two star hurlers, Patrick Corbin of the Rangers and Osvaldo Bido of the Athletics, occupy the mound. Corbin’s been finding his footing with a 3.96 ERA and 1.43 WHIP this season. Bido, on the other hand, has been making batters look like they're swatting at flies, carrying a 2.67 ERA into the clash.
Shifting our gaze to the Texas boys with sticks in their hands, Josh Smith has been spraying the ball like a broken sprinkler with a .378 average, while Corey Seager and Wyatt Langford have sent a combined 8 souvenir balls into the seats. Tough luck for those scoreboard bulbs at the Coliseum tonight, eh?
On the Athletics' side of the bat rack, young slugger Tyler Soderstrom is drilling the cowhide with 9 long shots and a .298 average, bolstered by Jacob Wilson and his .354 average.
Revisiting past duels, it's been a seesaw battle between these teams with the Rangers searching for a win after a narrow 3-2 loss last they met. Regular season stats show a slight edge for the Rangers with a 13-9 record compared to the Athletics' 10-12 record.
As my old coach used to say "You're only as good as your last game," and the Rangers have had a mixed grill of late, while the Athletics have been trying to escape a headlock from Milwaukee.
Given the Athletics' advantage on their home turf and the recent performance of these teams, ladies and gents, I'll put my money on the A's to pull out a victory, but the Rangers won't make it easy for them. So, without further ado, here is my forecast:
Albert’s Prediction: Athletics by 2
