The Los Angeles Dodgers are packing up their bags and heading over to the Citizens Bank Park, biting at the bit to face off against the Philadelphia Phillies in what promises to be an electric clash.
Each team's pitching staff is led by a distinctive personality. The Dodgers' gamble, Roki Sasaki, had a bit of a shaky start this season, his ERA and WHIP confirming the hesitant quality of his play. But then you have Aaron Nola of the Phillies who, bless his heart, has an even worse record in the early goings of this season. Yet, let's not be hasty and offer him some due respect for his commendable outings last season, which we certainly hope he can pull from back in the depths of his memory.
Launching attacks for the Dodgers are notable players such as Will Smith showing no mercy to the ball with a .409 batting average and Shohei Ohtani, who comes packing with 3 powerful dingers to his name. Tommy Edman and Teoscar Hernandez also have shown some firepower-looking to bombard the ballpark with each swing. The Phillies, in contrast, have their force in Johan Roas who's hitting .667 currently, and to think of it, maybe should start buying lottery tickets with that luck. Edmundo Sosa and Kyle Schwarber have also been keeping the scorers busy, not to mention Nicholas Castellanos, who's been getting on base with a decent .292.
Revisiting the history books, the Phillies have a slight edge in their past encounters, which may give them a psychological advantage. But then again, sports and psychology go together like me and a sensible remark.
The Phillies' recent games have been a tad more decent compared to the Dodgers. Hence, the Dodgers' unblemished record seems like a bulb about to go pop. Maybe the Citizens Bank Park, with its affinity towards big hitters, might just be the place where the Dodgers meet their match.
Now, don't hold me for ransom if this doesn't play out, but considering my absolute disregard for reason and probabilities, I'd suggest the Philadelphia Phillies to edge this one out. But hey, what do I know? My ex still has me on speed dial.
