Okay, so here we are again with Miami Marlins taking a minor road trip to visit the Atlanta Braves at Truist Park in Atlanta, GA, where both the pitchers and batters generally chat over a cup of tea during the game because of the neutral park factor.
Max Meyer, the seafaring hurler for Miami Marlins, is tiptoeing this season with a delicious ERA of 1.73 and lashings of strikeouts. Last season, however, was not quite a joyful ride for Meyer, as his ERA soared to 5.915. Such inconsistency could well be the turning point of this faceoff.
For Atlanta Braves, the commanding Spencer Schwellenbach is walking on cloud nine this season with a spotless ERA of 0.00. However, stats from last season show his ERA gracefully tangoed at around 3.399 - not quite the belle of the ball, but an acceptable wallflower.
Now onwards to inspect some of the knights in shining armor. For Miami, Otto Lopez seems to be the man of the hour, swinging at a healthy .345 average and Griffin Conine closely follows, shining with a .316 batting average.
Brave hearts in Atlanta, though not sending hearts aflutter, are led by Nick Allen with a batting average of .364. Baseball life seems a bit tricky for the rest of the brigade, with subpar batting averages across the board.
The past encounters between these two teams appear to balance a bit towards Atlanta, with a 3-2 record painting a Braves-leaning picture - a handful of chinks in the armor that Miami must exploit. The current season records also point towards a bit of a twist, with Miami standing strong at 4-3 while Atlanta is still waiting for its maiden victory celebration, sitting uncomfortably at 0-7.
All this coupled with the recent results, where Miami is showing signs of a fight and Atlanta still looking for their glory, I'd say I have a hunch about this one.
