Welcome, sports fans, or more accurately, the bored insomniacs among you, to our top-billed fracas between the Baltimore Orioles and the Kansas City Royals.
Once again, we make our way to the lovely haystack that pretends to be a pitcher’s paradise, Kauffman Stadium. The batters might get excited, especially when they hear about the promising Park Factor. For those not in the know, let's just say the wind typically carries the ball nicely here. Hint: The oubliette is not for the shot-putters!
But then the lime-lit intro fades and reality smacks good’. The Orioles have slated their ace, Dean Kremer on the rubber tonight, whose present season is reading like a horror novel written by Stephen King himself, floating around an ERA that can make an average batter look like an All-Star.
On the flip side, we got the Royals and their golden arm Seth Lugo. He's floating around a 5.40 ERA this season but remember, his last season was more solid, especially his playoff performance which... ahem, not to dwell on that.
Let's give the batters their undeserving moment. Urias, Westburg, and Mullins are holding the fort for the Orioles. A special shout-out to Mullins who's been driving in runs quicker than I can finish my sandwich.
Looking at the Royals camp, Garcia and Canha have been outperforming themselves, not that it's benefiting the overall team dynamic. Perez? Well, let's hope the postseason version steps up to the plate.
Moving onto historical data, just like my ex high school sweetheart always brings up. The Royals have had a slight edge; as slight as my motivation for the gym. The Orioles, though, they are not looking too hot either with a regular season record equivalent to the quality of a Monday morning school assembly.
The recent performance has been a bleak affair for both teams. The Orioles finally tasted victory, but their record isn't exactly breaking any streak just yet.
Alright folks, enough chit chat. After considering their recent slippery homestretch, the scintillating home benefit, and my personal good vibes for a world better with underdogs, I see the Royals pulling off a fairly close victory.
Albert’s Prediction: Kansas City Royals by 2
