Taking center stage today is a contest between the Athletics and the Colorado Rockies. Now, I'm no mathematician, but the win odds are seeming mighty enticing for the Rockies. Those looking for a low-risk, high-return scenario might want to take note.
We're talking Coors Field here, which by the by, is a lion’s den for any pitcher. It's like serving a gourmet meal on a silver platter – for batters, anyway. The higher altitude and larger outfield are to credit, or blame, depending on which side of the plate you stand.
Speaking of which, Osvaldo Bido will be stepping up for the Athletics while Ryan Feltner will be returning the favor for the Rockies. Bido is boasting a pretty impressive 1.80 ERA this season, considering his less impressive 3.501 ERA from last season. Meanwhile, Feltner's been struggling in comparison, especially if we take a peek at his 4.767 ERA from last season. Still, it's a new game and anything could happen.
Don't even get me started on the players. Jacob Wilson and Tyler Soderstrom have been serving up some serious numbers for the Athletics, while the Rockies have been leaning heavily on Mickey Moniak and Hunter Goodman.
Last season's meetups were a bit of a mixed bag. We saw everything from a tight one-run game to an 8-run blowout–which admittedly, was a little bit ugly. On their regular season records, well, let's just say no one is writing home about it.. yet!
Taking a glance at recent games, both teams appear to have a bit of rust to shake off, especially seeing as their win tallies could be counted on a single hand.
Given all of this, let’s not forget that baseball is a funny game and it has a funny way of getting even the best predictions all jumbled up.
Drum roll... here it comes...
