My Prediction
New York Yankees by 3Well shiver me timbers, we're taking a peek at the New York Yankees taking on the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park. That park has got a bit of a friendly wink for the batters, but don't get too comfy now, guys.
Now let's chew over our pitchers. The Yankees are putting Max Fried on the hill. He sports a slightly compromised ERA of 4.29 this season but let's not forget the grit he showed last season with an ERA of 3.29. So he's good but decidedly mid-pack, let's say. On the Pirates' side, we got Mitch Keller with a rather impressive 1.50 ERA this season, certainly an improvement over his 4.29 tail end last year.
Let's mosey on over to the players. For the Yankees, we got some real sluggers. Trent Grisham flashing that .500 batting average, Aaron Judge swinging his way to 15 RBIs and 5 home runs, and Jazz Chisholm Jr. getting some good whacks with a .292 batting average and 4 homers. The Pirates, on the other hand, well they got a platter of humble pie, with the top performer being Isiah Kiner-Falefa, holding a .333 average along with 4 steals – an impressive stat, no doubt, but not enough to make the earth tremble.
Looking back at their past encounters, they've been passing wins back and forth like a hot potato with the Yankees just edging out the Pirates 3-2. And when it comes to the recent games, the Yankees have been shaking their money maker with a 4-2 record but the Pirates have been sinking more than swimming with a 2-5 record.
So taking everything into account, and possibly shaking a magic 8-ball, let's cook up a prediction.
