Let's not beat around the bush here, folks. We have a rather interesting matchup between Magdalena Frech and Qinwen Zheng. Number 8 seed Zheng has been having a good run lately, despite her hiccup against Potapova and Alexandrova. She even managed to secure victories against Mertens and Sakkari, proving that she can handle some heat.
Moving on to Frech, she schooled Azarenka in their last match. However, she stumbled a bit with Andreeva and Pegula. The inconsistency is noticeable and could be her Achilles' heel. With seed 26, she's not exactly been lighting the tournament on fire, if you get my drift.
And let's not forget the past events when they faced each other last August where Zheng clearly had the upper hand, scoring love in both the confrontations. If there's one thing we know about tennis, it's that history loves to repeat itself.
All in all, my money's on Zheng's superior track record and greater consistency. On top of that, given Frech's inconsistent performance and history, I doubt we're in for long rally.
Albert’s Prediction: Zheng in straight sets.
