Muchova in straight sets.
If we were to shove away all the fluff, ladies and gents, we're looking real close at a classic David and Goliath type of situation here in this Mutua Madrid Open round of 64. Karolina Muchova, holding down the fort as the 12th seed, is stacked up against our unseeded contender, Yuliia Starodubtseva.
Muchova's had some high's and low's, folks, taking some pretty unscheduled trips to the showers against Svitolina and Świątek. But she also found herself to be the victor quite a few times against Azarenka, Siniaková, and Cocciaretto. It's no walk in the park for our brunette bomber.
On the contrary, Starodubtseva's win against Fruhvirtová and her trouncing of Jacquemot turned some heads, albeit she had no love from Fett and Osaka. You can bet she's itching for an upset and a chance to flip the script in this match-up.
However, folks, if we're talking from a purely speculative standpoint, you wouldn't bet grandma's pension on it. Muchova, with all her seeded glory and spiteful backhand, has more than a fighting chance to quash the hopes of the underdog Starodubtseva.
Albert’s Prediction: Muchova in straight sets.
