It's certainly not a stretch to say that Coco Gauff is the odds-on favorite here in this enticing face off. She's been delivering those rockets from the baseline like she was born to do it. With a tournament seed of 4, we can all agree she's on a bit of a grand slam winning spree. Now not to diminish Dayana Yastremska, she's been making heads turn even without her status tied to a tournament seed. A bit touch and go situation, but she's shown true grit in those recent matches.
Yet, if we turn our attention toward their past meetings, one might get an inkling of what's to come. Coco seems to have gotten the hang of Dayana, serving her a double scoop of love twice no less. Seems like a pretty clear pattern, doesn't it?
Based on their recent form, it's easy to note Gauff's loss to Paolini may have been a blip on the radar, considering she put Seidel, Sakkari, and Kenin squarely in their places right before. Yastremska, however, has had a more topsy-turvy performance recently, her win against Jones sandwiched by losses to Ostapenko and Bencic.
To me, folks, this seems almost as unpredictable as plucking a feather from a chicken and hoping for an egg. But if I were to hedge my bets, I would confidently hand this one to Gauff. Not that fate cares about what I think.
Albert’s Prediction: Gauff in straight sets
