Baptiste in 3 setsAh, the smell of fresh clay. We’re looking at a face-off between unseeded Hailey Baptiste and our number 19 seed, Donna Vekic. Quite the spectacle if I do say so myself.
Baptiste, our tennis darling, recently flexed her prowess against the likes of Cîrstea and Gadecki, rather confidently at that. But let's not forget her troubles against Navarro and Osaka, where she seemed about as comfortable as a giraffe on roller skates.
On the flip side, we have Vekic, whose performance of late has been as consistent as my golf swing, and trust me, that’s not saying a lot. Wins against Navarro and Avanesyan suggest she's no slouch, but recent losses to Fett and Masarova show some cracks in the amour.
While Baptiste may be unseeded, she's showing up like a pro at a charity match. As for Vekic, I’m not sure if the number 19 seed has sent her game into overdrive or if it's just taking a vacation. As far as my humble opinion goes, and remember folks, I've been wrong before - just ask my ex-wife - Baptiste seems to have a tad more fire in her racket right now.
