Samsonova in straight sets.Ah, set the DVR and order in some nachos folks, this is one showdown you don't want to miss. We've got Liudmila Samsonova facing off against Caroline Dolehide, an unseeded underdog who’s got more to prove on the courts.
Now, looking at Dolehide's recent performances, she's had her victories, knocking Avanesyan E. and Cocciaretto E. out of the park with a flourish. However, she's also had her fair share of defeats, kissing the dust against formidable foes like Keys M. and Liu C. A brave heart, no doubt, but she's up against our tournament 18th seed, Samsonova who is as relentless as they come.
Samsonova's had her fill of ups and downs recently. She got served reality checks by Alexandrova E., Osaka N. and the mighty Sabalenka A. But my oh my, she stepped up her game and dealt out her own set of blows, dishing out defeats to Paolini J. and Kasatkina D.
So how does this all play out? Well, if your guess is as good as my dry cleaning bills, then Samsonova, given her superior seed and the payout favoring her, seems to be the safer bet. Not to count out our challenger Dolehide, she's got that plucky spirit, but I have a hunch it won't be enough to upset Samsonova in this Round of 64 matchup.
