Jessica Pegula, you recall, comes in at number 3 seed. How could you forget? Her track record recently has been formidable, to say the least. Fresh off a victory from Fręch M., a clean sweep with zero sweat--I mean, love. So neat that one could almost eat off that court. She's plated Alexandrova before, too, on the fifth of April, no less!
That's not to say that Ekaterina Alexandrova should be taken lightly. Unseeded, yes, but she's got a knack for springing surprises. Gunning down Samsonova and Andreeva, both with love filled greetings, she's bound to give Pegula some food for thought. The past tells a tale of her taming Pegula twice before, intriguing but don’t let it sway you, that’s all ancient history from the dusty shelves of yesteryear.
So, with the echoes of the cheering crowd about to ensue once again, I'd bet my snazzy commentator hat on Jessica Pegula, albeit not without an intense fight on the court.
