Hiroshima Carp by 2And who could forget that classic matchup brewing tonight between the Tokyo Yakult Swallows and the Hiroshima Carp. We've got some history between these two, don't we? Ties and jarring battles of one-run victories—it's the definition of nail-biting!
Now, Tokyo's been slightly less impressive, if you consider 20 wins and 45 losses, less impressive. Hiroshima, on the other hand, is nearly breaking even, boasting a more respectable 35-33 for the season—that's almost mediocre!
If you recall recent history, the Swallows have been singing less and less on the field, losing or tying their last 4 out of 5 matches. The Carps, with scales all shiny, managed to keep their heads above water, netting 3 victories in their last 5 outings. Carp's are always better when they're fresh, aren't they?
Now, as I am legally obligated to inform you, past performance does not predict future results. But if I were a betting man—which I most certainly am not—I'd say the Hiroshima Carp might be looking to add some sushi-grade Swallows to their menu tonight. In the battle between bird and fish, I'd reckon the fish is ready to assert its aquatic dominance. This Carp seems prepared to swim upstream against the current.
