In our upcoming Nippon Professional Baseball faceoff, we've got the Orix Buffaloes charging head-on into the Saitama Seibu Lions' den. If you're looking for historical clash evidence, these two have been playing a "glad to meet ya, now I'm going to beat ya" saga for the past couple of months. It's been tit for tat, back-and-forth, seesaw stuff with both teams claiming 2 victories each in the last 5 meetups. I'll tell you this, predicting the winner here is about as easy as teaching a cat to bark.
Let's not ignore the elephant in the room, the Buffaloes' regular season standing is looking sharper than the Lions' by a whisker. Our boys from Orix have managed to graze the winners' grassland 39 times compared to the Lions' 38 successful hunts.
Coming to recent form, I have to admit, the Buffaloes have looked as sprightly as spring lambs, winning 3 of their last 5. Meanwhile, the Saitama Seibu Lions are far from roaring, winning only twice in the same stretch. You'd think the Lions have developed a serious cat-napping problem.
So, even though the Saitama Seibu Lions are on their home turf, it's hard to overlook those sprightly Buffaloes. And being the absurdly non-committal species I am, I'm angling towards a win by the Buffaloes. Not a good day to be a Lion I suppose.
Albert’s Prediction: Orix Buffaloes by 2
