My Prediction
Carolina Hurricanes by 2Alright, batten down the hatches. The Carolina Hurricanes are about to blow into Detroit and stir up a storm against those Red Wings. Last time we saw these two teams face off, well let’s just say the term "blown away" comes to mind.
Carolina’s Quartet of goalkeepers spearheaded by Frederik Andersen, with a season save percentage of 92.4% are not here to play. Meanwhile, Detroit's net protection duo, Cam Talbot and Petr Mrazek, boasting save percentages of 92.3% and 91.4% respectively, may be scrambling to keep their wings under them.
On the offensive side, Carolina boasts quite the lineup of talent. Seth Jarvis, folks, with a sensational 29 goals this season, and Sebastian Aho, the assist king with 41 this season, aren't players to be taken lightly. Throw in talents like Shayne Gostisbehere with his impressive assist count and you’re caught in a maelstrom.
Detroit, with Patrick Kane and Lucas Raymond, who have amassed 19 and 26 goals respectively, along with Alex DeBrincat and his 33 goals this season, will put up quite the fight. But with these last month's stats featuring mostly negative plus-minus, it's like trying to fly with clipped wings.
Looking back, Carolina's clearly got a wind at their backs in matchups against Detroit. Go further back and you'll see they've been outpacing the Red Wings in the regular season as well, with a record of 46-4-24 compared to Detroit's 34-7-33.
Taking cue from recent results, the Hurricanes have had much smoother sailing, with only a single loss in their last five matches. The Red Wings, however, had a bit of a crash landing recently with more mixed results.
