Tampa Bay Lightning by 3Here we are again ladies and gentlemen, it's the Tampa Bay Lightning, visiting the New York Islanders. No surprise here, Lightning's guardian of the net, Andrei Vasilevskiy, with those massive 1428 saves this season at a whopping 94.1%. The Islanders' Ilya Sorokin isn’t bad either, he managed to net 1366 saves at 90.6%, but he's got a tough job tonight. And let's not forget Jonas Johansson for Tampa with 418 saves at an 89.9%, not as impressive as Andrei, but still worth mentioning.
In terms of top players, Lightning's Nikita Kucherov has been a real standout with 30 goals and 75 assists this season. Jake Guentzel isn't far behind either with 36 goals and 35 assists. Brayden Point and Victor Hedman also deserve a nod with their consistent performances. Now the Islanders... oh boy, it's not an all-star cast, I tell you, with Noah Dobson and Bo Horvat leading the pack, while Anders Lee and Simon Holmstrom try their best to keep up.
The past match-ups between these two have generally swung in favor of the Lightning, with the last match seeing a 5-3 win for Tampa. Looking at their regular season records, the Lightning seem poised to shock the Islanders again, boasting a 43-5-25 record compared to the Islanders' 32-10-31.
Recently, the Lightning have been a bolt from the blue, with big wins against New York, Utah, and Pittsburgh, with only a few hiccups against Vegas and Utah again. But, hey, nobody's perfect. The Islanders, on the other hand, have been having a rough ride, losing to Carolina, Vancouver, Columbus and Calgary. Tough luck, fellas.
Now, don’t quote me on this because my bookie and ex-wife will both be after me, but it looks like we might have a clear winner in this matchup - you know, hypothetically speaking. My heart goes out to Islanders, but my money... well, that's a different story.
