Ladies and gentlemen, let's talk some hockey, shall we? We've got the Florida Panthers squaring off against the Montréal Canadiens - a tale as old as poutine, if you want a little cultural reference there.
Looking at the men defending the pipes, we've got Sergei Bobrovsky and Vitek Vanecek suiting up for the Panthers. Bobrovsky's on a tear this season with an overall save percentage of 92.3%. Not too shabby, Sergei. Same can't be said for Vanecek, who's been a referral case to the repair shop with a pretty ordinary save percentage of 88.3%.
On the other hand, the Canadiens have Sam Montembeault and Jakub Dobes minding the net. Montembeault has been pulling more saves than a cook at a bad restaurant with 1332 saves this season at an 89.8 save percentage. Dobes, well, not so much, hovering at an 87.4% save percentage last month.
On to our top players. The Panthers have Aleksander Barkov and Sam Reinhart leading the offensive charge. Barkov has scored 5 goals and provided 8 assists last month which is a performance as strong as a well-crafted whiskey. Reinhart's posted similar stats with 5 goals and 7 assists last month.
On the Canadiens side, you've got Nick Suzuki and Lane Hutson. Suzuki has tallied 5 goals and 12 assists last month, while Hutson has been an assist machine with 14 assists. You'd think he was running a charity with all those giveaways.
Looking at their past confrontations, seems like the Habs have given the Panthers a real run for their money. Somebody probably should've warned Florida that Montréal doesn't like to play nice in the sandbox. The Regular Season Record makes it more interesting. Panthers have a superior record with 44 wins with the Canadiens trailing at 34.
The recent results scream inconsistency for both teams, but the Panthers have been doing better of late with just two losses out of five games. Canadiens, on the other hand, are trotting behind with three losses in their last five.
Laying it all out, and it only adds up one way folks.
