Well buckle in we’ve got ourselves an East coast showdown between the Boston Celtics and the New York Knicks. Both teams, in good standing, the Celtics currently holding second and the Knicks a close third. The win-loss records pretty much echoing the same tune, 58-20 for the green and 50-28 for the blues.
Take out your notepads and let's do some quick math, shall we? You gotta respect the Celtics for mustering up four wins out of the last five matchups. But hey, it's not like the Knicks were vacationing in those games. They were always within throwing distance of a hot dog at the concession stand, metaphorically speaking, of course.
Now, let's put the cards on the table. The Celtics got some fancy aces up their sleeve. Jayson Tatum with a nice 26.8 PPG in the last month and Kristaps Porzingis packing some heat as well. Jaylen Brown, while not exactly basketball's Einstein, isn't someone you'd want to forget about either.
On the flipside, the Knicks’ laundry list of top players isn't exactly a bedtime story. From Karl-Anthony Towns pulling down the boards with 10.6 RPG last month, to OG Anunoby scoring high, and Jalen Brunson turning it up. These guys, they're not exactly giving away candy.
And, you know what they say, history tends to repeat itself. In the last five head-to-head matchups, Knicks were left on the wrong side of the scoreboard. More recently, the Celtics have been on quite the roll with five straight victories, while the Knicks only managing to win three from the last five.
So, you could say the Celtics are walking into this with a pep in their step. But never downplay a home advantage. With a supportive New York crowd, the Knicks won't be too keen on playing second fiddle in their own turf.
Drumroll please... after all that rambling I know you just want the prediction. So based on enough stats to confuse a computer:
