What a night we have on our hands for this face-off between the Atlanta Hawks and Orlando Magic. The Hawks, coming in at #8 in the Eastern Conference, need to show some good old southern hospitality and go all out against the Magic. Their go-to guy is Trae Young, and really, can you blame 'em? That kid averaged about 25.7 points last month. That's right Merlin, your Magic isn't the only thing happening here. Young is backed up offensively by Onyeka Okongwu, with an impressive 15.7 points and 10.5 rebounds per game last month.
On the other hand, the Magic have their own magic wand in Paolo Banchero. If you think a point guard scoring 25.7 looks good, how about Banchero's whopping 30.0 points per game last month! His buddy Franz Wagner isn't just sitting around munching on popcorn either, he's chipping in with 22.1 points.
Looking at past face-offs, it appears to be a neck and neck with the last five ending up in favor of the home team. Taking a trip down memory lane, we saw a 114-108 victory for the Magic at Atlanta but Atlanta got their payback with a 112-106 win at Orlando.
Factoring in regular season records, the Magic seem to have a slight edge but only as slight as a rabbit coming out of a hat, with 38 wins over the Hawk's 37. Taking a peek into the recent results, Atlanta celebrated a spectacular victory over Utah which could give them a morale boost coming into this.
So, without much ado, let's cut to the chase. Here is my hard-earned, highly expensive, slightly tarnished but nevertheless shiny prediction.
