Sacramento Kings by 10Salivating at this matchup between the Charlotte Hornets and the Sacramento Kings, let me fist say it's been a while since Kings have visited the Queen City for some healthy competition. Last time we saw them face off was back in February 2025, with the Kings absolutely obliterating the Hornets, 130 to 88. A look at the past matchups reveals a pattern: the Kings have had the edge each time. That's history though, let's talk the here and now.
The Kings are bringing a roster lead by the stellar play of Domantas Sabonis, who's moving mountains with 19 points and 14 rebounds per game this season, and the always reliable DeMar DeRozan, who's putting up solid numbers with an average of 22 points per game. Zach LaVine is also adding to the firepower with an average of 22.8 points per game. Now, this trio can create some serious havoc on the court, and that's trouble for the Hornets.
When we talk about Hornets, it's essential to mention the performances of Miles Bridges, LaMelo Ball, and Mark Williams. Miles is keeping the answer bell ringing with a handsome average of 20.6 points per game. LaMelo is handling the assists department quite nicely with an average of 7.4 assists per game and Williams is a beast in the paint with his 10.2 rebounds per game. Can these guys create an upset? From what I see, it would be a tall order.
Looking at the Kings' recent results, we can't exactly sing their praises. However, the Hornets aren't faring any better either. The regular season records speak volumes about these teams' performances. The Kings, with a decent 36-40 record, are the 10th seed in the tough Western Conference. The Hornets, swimmin' with the fishes down at 14th in the Eastern Conference, are carrying a not-so-pretty 19-57 record.
Taking these stats into account, it's looking like a landslide in favor of the Kings. The stable of the Kings, with Sabonis and DeRozan leading the charge, looks set to wreak some royal havoc on the court. The Hornets, on the other hand, are going to need some of that buzz they've been missing lately.
At this point, I'd suggest betting on a discard pile instead of hoping for a royal flush. But who knows, maybe a little buzz from the Hornets will make this game more interesting than it appears on paper.
