All aboard the Cavalier carriage folks, because we're heading to a basketball joust, and let me tell you, it's looking slightly one-sided. Cleveland Cavaliers are heading into this battle as the shining knights of the eastern conference, while the San Antonio Spurs, well let's just say they're learning the art of swordsmanship at #13 in the western conference.
The Cavaliers frontliners are nothing short of impressive, with Donovan Mitchell spearheading the offensive charge alongside the likes of Evan Mobley, Darius Garland, and Jarrett Allen. Mitchell has been dishing out 22.8 points per game this past month, not to mention 5.8 rebounds and 5.6 assists. While, Mobley isn't a slouch either, averaging 17.8 points and grabbing 8.8 rebounds. Garland's contribution can't be overlooked as well with 18.5 points and 6.6 assists per game.
Now, let's glance at our Spurs. De'Aaron Fox is the standout figure here. While his recent 19.8 points per game output is commendable, we can't forget Stephon Castle and Devin Vassell who have fought tooth and nail to add serious firepower. And, who can ignore the seasoned veteran of many battles, Chris Paul, although with 8.4 points and 6.2 assists per game recently, we may ask if the squire is ready to don the knight's armor.
Historically, the Cavaliers have emerged victorious in more recent face-offs between the two teams. And, factoring in the superior regular season records, the Cavaliers assert this dominance with a whooping 61-15 record compared to the Spurs' less than inspiring 32-44 tally. Given consideration to the recent results, the Spurs have been on a bit of a slippery slope, which doesn't bode well for this matchup.
Considering these factors, it might not take a knight's wisdom to predict where this battle is leaning. The Cavaliers have been charging head first into victory, and sadly for our San Antonio counterparts, it doesn't look like the Spurs are going to burst their bubble.
