Alright, we've got another fun match before us. Grab your peanuts, folks! The Kansas City Royals will be visiting the Seattle Mariners at the T-Mobile Park, a place not quite the hitter's paradise some might hope for but no doubt pitchers like Michael Wacha will enjoy.
Speaking of Wacha, he has put on a truly sterling performance for the Royals this season, carrying a 3.40 ERA and 1.25 WHIP, while striking out an average 7.4 batters per nine innings. He'll be going toe to toe with the Mariners' starting pitcher, George Kirby. Now, Kirby has a slightly high 5.47 ERA with a 1.30 WHIP, but his strikeouts have been carving quite the name for him at 9.0 K/9.
The Royals’ standouts this season have been Maikel Garcia, Bobby Witt Jr., and Vinnie Pasquantino. Garcia is batting a neat .317 with 13 RBIs, 3 home runs and 7 stolen bases. Witt Jr. isn't too far behind with a .275 batting average, 13 RBIs, 6 homers, and a stolen base. Pasquantino's been pitching in heavily as well, hitting .310 with 17 RBIs and 4 round-trippers.
Their opponents aren’t exactly slouching either. The Mariners boast the likes of Donovan Solano, hitting .373 with 16 RBIs and 3 homers, J.P. Crawford with a .313 average, 10 RBIs, a couple of homers and 3 stolen bases, and Cal Raleigh, the big bopper, who’s batting .308, with a whopping 32 RBIs and 13 home runs.
Looking back at their past showdowns, we've had some very close ones, almost like a pantomime horse race. In recent performances, though, both Kansas City and Seattle have had their ups and downs, with the Mariners having a slight edge over the Royals in terms of match wins.
Based on all this, my money goes for Seattle Mariners to outperform Kansas City Royals. Going to be a good watch, one sprinkled with quite a few pitcher-laughs in the Mariners' park, but enough slugger smiles for the batting order to carve out a win.
Albert’s Prediction: Seattle Mariners by 3
