San Francisco Giants by 2Looking at this upcoming baseball matchup, the San Francisco Giants are scheduled to square off against the Chicago White Sox all the way out in Illinois, at a venue that just loves to shower the hitters with abundance, Guaranteed Rate Field.
The visiting Giants are led on the mound by Robbie Ray, their whip-slinging Olympian hurler, who's been nothing short of electric this season, logging a cool 2.83 ERA with a WHIP of 1.16 and chucking a whopping 10.2 Ks per nine innings over 16 games.
On the Sox's corner, Adrian Houser is expected to toe the rubber. He's posted a robust 2.30 ERA and 1.28 WHIP in just 6 outings while managing about two-thirds the strikeouts per innings as his Giants counterpart.
Heading the offensive charge for the Giants, we've got the likes of Heliot Ramos, with his batting average at a .286, 17 ribbies, four big ones and two stolen bases in his pocket. Not far behind is Casey Schmitt, who's been doing his fair share of damage as well, tagging the ball at a clip of .308 and collecting 12 runs batted.
On the Chisox side, Lenyn Sosa looks to lead with a .296 average, five RBIs, and a pair of homeruns. Andrew Benintendi is also someone to keep an eye on, with .261 average, and matching numbers on RBIs and home runs with Sosa.
Past engagements suggest a pretty even going affair, with the last five battles yielding three victories for the Giants, and the Sox claiming two. However, the overall standing tells a different story this season with San Francisco cruising at 45-37 against White Sox’s less impressive 26-56 record.
In terms of recent form, the Giants nicked the last one away from the White Sox even though they've had a bit of a rougher patch, while the Sox haven’t exactly had a smooth sail either.
Using my not-so-magic powers of deduction, my rationale would point to a slight edge for the Giants.
