Buckle up for a classic baseball rumble as the St. Louis Cardinals take flight against the Cleveland Guardians at the famous Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio. In all modesty, my unerring prediction powers tell me that this is gonna be a nail-biter.
As the evening breeze starts blowing, Miles Mikolas would be setting his foot on the mound for the Cardinals. With a 4.40 ERA, a WHIP of 1.31, and an ok-ish K/9 ratio, he's kinda lukewarm so far this season. The Guardians though have an ace up their sleeve in the form of Slade Cecconi. The boy's rocked a better ERA of 3.40 this season, a similar WHIP and a hotly impressive K/9 ratio.
Speaking of boys rocking, Alec Burleson of The Cardinals is setting the field ablaze with a .320 batting average, 19 RBIs, and 6 homers. Yohel Pozo and Nolan Gorman aren't too shabby either. The Guardians, on the other hand, have Jose Ramirez sporting a .319 batting average, 12 RBIs, 4 home runs, and 7 up on the stolen bases list, making him a Guardian to reckon with.
Peeking into the past, it’s a bit of a seesaw story between the Cardinals and Guardians, but the last clash ended in a shutout victory for the Cardinals. The Cardinals also got a bit of an edge in the regular season records, with a 45-38 against the Guardians' 40-40.
While the Birds had a little rough patch against Chicago, they're coming off a win against the Guardians. The Guardians have had their own cold fronts, especially against Toronto, before managing to claw back a victory.
It's a tough call, but keeping all in mind, the St. Louis Cardinals might just swoop in for a win. But this is sports, and in sports, 'tis never over until the corpulent lady does her singing number.
Albert’s Prediction: St. Louis Cardinals by 2.
