San Francisco Giants by 3Right, the San Francisco Giants are stepping into the ring with the Chicago White Sox at the esteemed Guaranteed Rate Field--get your popcorn ready for this one! Now, the pitcher’s duel is practically a coin toss. Justin Verlander for the Giants going head-to-head with Jonathan Cannon for the White Sox. Both are featuring nearly identical stats this season, and honestly, I've seen more compelling battles at kiddie karate summer camps.
No disrespect to our impressive athletes on the field though. Giants are trotting out heavy hitters like Dominic Smith and the young upstart Heliot Ramos. The White Sox have their bats warmed too, with Mike Tauchman and Andrew Benintendi hitting decently well, though I'd suggest they aim to turn those home run numbers upside a smidge if they fancy a win.
Historically, the past encounters between these teams are a bit on the lukewarm side, nearly a statistical dead heat. Although, it's the Giants who've been edging it with 3 wins in the last 5 meet-ups, the White Sox aren't exactly trailing by miles.
Now, brace yourselves for the harsh truth. White Sox's season record is something only a mother could love, sitting at a pitiful 27-56 compared to the Giants who are floating above .500 with 45-38. But hey, it's baseball, miracles happen, right?
In terms of recent form, both teams have been dipping their toes in the challenge pool. The Giants, however, had tough cookies to deal with in Miami while the White Sox philosophically pondered the meaning of existence after an absolute thrashing from Arizona.
So as far as predictions go, look, I've seen toast with more wins than the White Sox this season and the Giants are stomping in with better form, stronger players and, well, a better everything--so that's where I'm throwing my hat.
