Kansas City Royals by 3So, we're looking at a game here with the Kansas City Royals visiting the San Diego Padres at the Petco Park. Petco Park, a place where bats go to sleep and pitchers enjoy quiet nights. Obviously advantageous to our pitching performers of the evening.
Starting on the mound, the Royals have Seth Lugo with a solid 3.16 ERA and a K/9 of 7.4. His stats this season aren't anything to sneeze at, he's rolling into this game like a freight train. On the other side, we've got Randy Vasquez for the Padres thrown into the snake pit. His season hasn't quite matched up, sporting a 3.85 ERA and a K/9 of 5.5.
Let's chat about our players. Royals have some decent firepower: Vinnie Pasquantino, a monster at the plate with a .347 batting, and Maikel Garcia. Don't forget the veteran Salvador Perez, not having his finest season but we memory like elephants on this show so we know what he's capable of. For the Padres, we're talking Manny Machado here, Xander Bogaerts and Gavin Sheets.
Looking back at the past matchups between these two teams, we've seen some thrilling battles with the last two games ending in a tug-o-war, one-in-one draw situation. Interesting to note that these games were also an away game for the Royals just like today. When it comes to recent form, the Royals seem to have a slight edge, especially after conquering Texas thrice in their den. That's one hungry Royals squad. The Padres, however, have been balancing on a seesaw recently, stumbling a bit against the Los Angeles team.
