Arizona Diamondbacks by 3
Ah, isn't this the perfect picture of potential pummeling or perhaps a step into the improbable? Today we have the industrious Arizona Diamondbacks with their fair share of fanfare, going up against the under-fed Chicago White Sox in the Windy City's very own Guaranteed Rate Field. Now, the last time I checked, coefficients don't tend to lie so feast your eyes on these stats.
Let's talk tossers for a moment. The Diamondbacks are fielding Ryne Nelson, boasting a solid ERA at 4.07 and keeping his WHIP down to 1.13. On the other side of the diamond, we have Jordan Leasure of the White Sox, who looks a bit worse for wear with a 5.25 ERA and a WHIP nearing double Nelson's. Although Leasure does have a knack for making bats swing at the air with his impressive 13.7 K/9.
Now, dear friends, onto the specialists with the sticks. For Fiesta time in Arizona, they've got in their arsenal our man Ketel Marte with a fantastic .360 batting average, followed up by Suarez and Naylor who are both not too shabby, walloping in over .300 themselves. On the other hand, the White Sox have been struggling to keep pace. Edgar Quero, their top performer, is just trying to break the .280 mark, and even with Luis Robert's impressive number of stolen bases, they're looking a little bit anaemic in the batting department.
Interestingly enough, the Diamondbacks and White Sox have exchanged quite a few blows earlier. Their last face-off saw Chicago railroaded with Arizona cruising to a season-high 10-0 victory. Add in the home advantage that batters have at Guaranteed Rate field, statistically speaking, and the Dbacks look much better positioned to capitalize on it.
And these recent trends? Arizona has been keeping it mixed, but there's no denying they've had some decisive wins. The White Sox... not so much. Their history is more a monument to suffering and despair than a baseball record.
All these factors considered, it's looking like a tough day at work for the Chicago White Sox.
