San Francisco Giants by 2
As we dive into this battle of the ocean dwellers and the gold rushers, it's one thing to note - you won't find any goldfishes in the Marlins lineup this year, I guarantee you that.
Folks, we're laying down our coats in the breezy Oracle Park, San Francisco, a place where batters come to share a pint of sympathy, and pitchers feel like sailor man Popeye after a can of spinach. But principles aside, let's lay into the meat of this bout.
Toeing the rubber for the Miami Marlins onward journey, we have Edward Cabrera, he has graced us with 12 appearances in this season with a 3.95 ERA, a WHIP of 1.44 and 10 strikeouts per 9. His inhabitants in the aquarium compare against Logan Webb of the Giants. Webb with a 2.49 ERA, a WHIP of 1.12, and 10.1 strikeouts per nine innings is no slouch in his own yard, with 16 appearances to back his case, might I add.
On the front of contributors in the batter’s box, highlight reels of the Miami fish tank, Xavier Edwards and Jesus Sanchez, have been orchestrating symphonies with batting averages of .360 and .289 respectively. Agu…Agustin Ramirez, also part of the reef, with 15 ribbies under his belt, needs to put some dark glasses on and start seeing that ball a little better. Over on the Giants, Casey Schmitt leads the way beaming with pride with a .308 average. Joining him are Dominic Smith and Heliot Ramos, these guys are no featherweights when it comes to run-production.
In terms of headlights in the rearview mirror, San Francisco grabbed the 'W' twice, and Miami thrice in the past 5 outings. The Marlins sporting a 32-45 record are little more than fish out of water compared to the Giants with their 44-35 standing. The Marlins are partying with a recent 'W' over the giants while the latter turned around a loss to Miami with victories over Boston and Cleveland.
So, enough chit-chat, you're here for the meat and gravy. The winds of the west whisper a tale of Giants taking towers, and who am I to argue with the elements. Make no mistake, this isn't Hickory Dickory Dock. Even in a game of rounders, it's a little more than just running after the clock. Giants are on home soil and have the records waving in their favor. A name's but a name unless it's a Giant.
