San Francisco Giants by 3
Oh, I do hope you're entertained because it's showdown time when the Colorado Rockies stomp onto the Giants' territory at Oracle Park in San Francisco.
A quick glimpse at the pitching end, and you've got the Rockies placing their trust in Kyle Freeland. This season, our Freddie's pitched an ERA of 6.12 and has suavely struck out 7 batsmen per nine innings, in his last six appearances. Tipping the scales over to the Giants' side, they're betting big on Justin Verlander. Yes, that's the same Verlander who swung a 5.19 ERA and extinguished 8.5 batters per nine innings, in his previous half a dozen outings.
Before we discount the Rockies’ performance, let’s remember they're packing some heat with Jordan Beck and Hunter Goodman marking their territory, not forgetting Brenton Doyle. Beck's been hitting a .298 average and stole two bases while Goodman, at .259, isn't far behind, although his base stealing game needs work. Doyle's trailing slightly with a .243 average - but don't dismiss this fella just yet.
Over on the sunny side of Golden Gate Bridge, the Giants' squad boasts players like Lee Jung Hoo, Tyler Fitzgerald, and our very favorite, Mike Yastrzemski. Jung Hoo's been lighting up the season with a sizzling .321 average. Fitzgerald's thrown punches at a .282 average and stolen four bases. Yastrzemski's flying close behind at .267 but matches Jung Hoo's theft record.
Lest we forget, the last few meetings haven’t turned up roses for the Rockies, with the Giants winning four of the last five games. Rockies, the try-harders of this season with a record of 5 wins and 25 losses, going against the giants of the Giants, gathering 19 wins from a total of 31 games.
But hey, we've seen Rocky win against Apollo Creed, haven't we? Well, when it comes to sports, recent achievements do speak volumes, and quite frankly Rockies' track record isn't something to write home about. Giants, on the other hand, are on a decent streak, barring their recent slips against San Diego.
Hence, do indulge me as I consult the almighty magic 8 ball and
