My Prediction
Chicago Cubs by 3Ah, the classic matchup of the Chicago Cubs and Pittsburgh Pirates, always a game for the books. We'll be heading to PNC Park, a place that's been pretty generous to the batters as of late, with Matthew Boyd toeing the rubber for the Cubs, having a fantastic season with an ERA of 2.56 across 5 appearances. The Pirates, however, will have Carmen Mlodzinski on the mound who, quite frankly, hasn't seen the best of starts this year with an ERA of 7.18 in 5 appearances.
Now, let's talk about the batting powerhouses. The Cubs are boasting Carson Kelly, Seiya Suzuki, and Kyle Tucker in their lineup. Kelly is the man to watch with a .400 batting average! Meanwhile, the Pirates aren't exactly setting the world on fire with their bats. Andrew McCutchen is their top performer but with a batting average of .292, he's trailing far behind Kelly.
Looking at the recent face-offs between these two, it doesn't take a certified genius to notice which team has the upper hand. The Cubs have had the Pirates walking the plank in the last few games, and judging by the Cubs' strong regular season record of 18 wins against 12 losses, compared to the Pirates' rather dismal 11 wins and 19 losses, the odds aren't in their favor.
Bet you a hot dog the Pirates aren't feeling too confident, especially after their recent string of games. A loss to the Cubs of 9-0 on their own turf isn't going to boost morale. On the flip side, the Cubs suffered a few rough games against Philadelphia, but came out swinging and stomping the Pirates on their last match.
Based on all these facts, between you, me, and the hot dog vendor, here's my prediction:
