I have to say, this one does seem a bit lopsided. Let's start with the pitching. On the mound today for the Brewers we have Freddy Peralta. Now, if this were a beauty contest, Peralta's stats certainly look a bit more appealing than the Chicago White Sox's Bryse Wilson. It's like comparing a juicy steak to a microwaved hot dog, folks. Wilson with a 4.67 ERA and a stratospheric 2.00 WHIP? Peralta is just sitting steady at 2.45 ERA. And I mean, higher strikeouts per nine innings? That's like asking if you'd prefer a home run or a bunt.
For the bat-crackers, Milwaukee's line-up is holding some solid contenders. Brice Turang, Rhys Hoskins and Jackson Chourio have proven their mettle this season. On the flip side, Chicago's batting stats read like a bedtime story that could put you to sleep faster than a glass of warm milk. Edgar Quero does show some promise, but that's just one brightly painted bobblehead in a box of bland ones.
If past match-ups are an indicator, history favors Milwaukee as they have had Chicago's number in the recent past. And given the regular season record, the Brewers are just about breaking even, while the White Sox seem to be stuck in the mud at third base with a dismal 7-21.
Recent results show a bit of a hiccup for Milwaukee, but Chicago isn't also exactly setting the world on fire. Given the conditions at the Guaranteed Rate Field which offers a touch more favor to the batters, Milwaukee's superior batting lineup might just find it a bit more to their liking than Chicago.
You know, predicting sports results isn't exactly rocket science, and it's not like anyone's holding their breath to see who I'll pick. But with that said, here's my two cents on the matter:
