The darling of the night, number five seed Leylah Fernandez, is up against unseeded Suzan Lamens. Fernandez, you see, has become the bookie's darling commandant. She's waving her racket with all the alacrity of a favored bet. Quite the fairytale, isn't it? She's in the top ranks, and folks are backing her for a reason.
But, on the other side, we've got Suzan Lamens. Far from a stranger to the underdog analogy, she's been skirting around smashing victories and crushing defeats alike. Ah, the spice of unpredictability that Lamens brings to the court, makes this betting man nervous, I tell you!
Now, I’ve been looking at their recent results. If the game were decided on wins alone, one might lean towards Lamens. But alas, tennis isn't a contact sport. You really have to look at the losses, the love. Leylah, it seems, has been making a habit of losing matches. Treating it like her morning cup of joe.
