Alexandrova in straight sets.Let's face the facts here, people. We're looking at a duel between Ekaterina Alexandrova and Veronika Kudermetova in this quarterfinal from the Rosmalen Grass Court Championships, so get your popcorn or whatever it is you snack on during high-stakes tennis.
We've had the pleasure of watching them go head-to-head in prior matches, a drama series in legwork and backhands. The data doesn't lie, and as of now, Kudermetova is trailing behind Alexandrova with two losses out of the trio of the past clashes. She's like the younger sibling who just can't catch a break.
Kudermetova, seeded number 8, is seemingly in a decent stride with back-to-back recent wins, even managing to defeat her own namesake - now, that's either impressive or narcissistic. But rewind a tad and there we find her loss to Alexandrova as sharp as a brand-new tennis racket string.
Alexandrova, with the advantage of being the second seed, is leaving no love on the court. Our favorite-Eastern-European-sportswoman-named-Ekaterina annihilated both Blinková and Bolkvadze recently which is telling of her strong form. But hello, what do we have here? A defeat at the hands of Gauff. Even the mightiest stumble but, we don't keep count, do we?
Given Alexandrova's curtsy to Gauff, there is a slim chance for Kudermetova to catch a wave of luck. But honestly, the chances are as slim as the rules for my commentary.
