Mertens in 3 setsThe Rosmalen Grass Court Championships Final is shaping up to be a real trip down Drama Lane. Let's strap into analysis-mode, shall we?
First up, we've got Mertens, who doesn't need an introduction, but here's one anyways - a power packed player treading the lawns of Rosmalen with the precision of a seasoned pro and the tenacity of a third seed. She's been pretty consistent, playing like a terminator with a tennis racket, losing only once in her recent matches. The minor setback aside, Mertens has been mowing down competitors left and right, just like my Uncle Larry at the family reunion horseshoe tournament.
On the other side of the net, we have the unseeded Ruse. Now, you might think being unseeded puts her at a disadvantage, kind of like showing up at a gun fight with a pool noodle, but she’s been playing like a wolf among lambs. Now, if I had to put my money—which I don’t because I am professionally neutral—given the recent form, Ruse seems to have a slight advantage. But considering her past encounters with Mertens and the favorite status of Mertens, it's going to be as tight as a new pair of shoes on a rainy day.
