North Queensland Cowboys by 3
And now we turn our attention to the upcoming clash between the North Queensland Cowboys and the Manly Sea Eagles. Let's not kid ourselves, this is going to be as hard as watching paint dry. We've got the Cowboys, sitting pretty at 6th place in the Premiership, and the Sea Eagles, not doing too shabby themselves at 8th position.
Past matchups make it look like these teams are involved in some sort of hokey pokey where you're in one game, out the next. The last time these two tangled, Manly barely left any feathers on the Cowboys with a brutal 42-12 thrashing. But before that, the Cowboys held the upper hand with a 19-8 victory. If you're into patterns, then you probably see where I'm going with this.
Looking at the regular season records, both teams seem evenly balanced as a sumo bout, except for that one tie from the Cowboys. Things were tied up so tight in that match, you'd think we were at a rodeo.
But let's take a gander at the recent results, shall we? The Cowboys wrangled a draw against the Panthers, and managed to blow away the Titans. They’ve been shaking off their opponents like water droplets on a bull's back.
Manly, on the other hand, has seen better days. They’re swinging like a door in the wind with a mix of good wins and harsh losses. Surprisingly, they just lost to the Sharks, which says far more about them than their recent victory against the Panthers.
So, where does that leave us? Well, if I had to drop my two cents, I'd say the Cowboys are going to be bringing the branding iron for the Sea Eagles. After all, they're riding a bit more of a wave than their opponents.
